No other details are recorded, but baby Noah could have been

the child of either James and Hannah, or their daughter Ellen

An entry at St. Bartholemews, Westhoughton for a marriage

on 9 June 1873 states:

Henry Mort, age 19, bachelor, Railway Servant,

residing in Westhoughton,

father James Mort, deceased Silk Weaver

Sarah Ellen Schofield, Spinster residing in Westhoughton,

father William Schofield, deceased brewer

In the presence of Rachel Bradshaw

At this point, I would mention that Sarah Ellen Schofield gave birth

to two children, but neither of them had the surname Mort, but Schofield.

One was my grandfather Thomas Schofield, born 1875, and the other

his brother William Schofield, born 1879.

Not wishing to confuse the situation any more than necessary, but

Henry Mort appears to be married again in 1881 to Annie, and I have

her death certificate as she was buried at Risley as Annie Mort, wife

of Henry Mort, brewers labourer, although I have tracked all marriages

of Henry Mort prior to 1881 without finding the marriage to an Annie.
