This is the last will and testament of me John Mort of Astley in the county of Lancaster, Gentleman I give and devise unto my grandson John Farnworth, his heirs for ever all my messuage and tennement where I now live together with the land and provisors with the payment of the sum of one hundred and twenty four pounds within twelve months of my decease. Twenty pounds unto my grandaughter Mary Hope whether she should be sole or marryed. If my said grandaughter Mary Hope shall happen to dye without issue, then I give and bequeath the said unto the rest of the children of my daughter Mary Farnworth as shall be living at the time. I give and devise unto my grand son Arnold Farnworth, his heirs for ever all that my estate called Tongs (except the cottage which Jane Piercy lives in which I shall give to my dear wife for and during her life) and also all those closes or parcells of land in astley called the Scotfield and Shoffalong with the payment of one hundred pounds unto my grandson Richard Farnworth and my grandaughter Ann Farnworth to be divided equally betwixt. Also I do hereby give and devise unto my loving wife Mary Mort for and during her natural life all that and my cottage called Tongs. Also I give unto my nephews Piers Brimelow, John Brimelow and George Brimelow the sum of one guinea apiece. I do hereby constitute and nominate and appoint my son in law John Farnworth and my friend John Green of Bedford executors. In witness I have here unto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven. Addition to this will- I do hereby give to my grandson Thomas Farnworth my two tennements called Walkinsons and Guests. Second day of July 1768.
