Now the festive season is nearly upon us, we think it is time to say a big thank you to all our members for your continued support of the mortfamily.net website. Sheila and Martin hope you have found the site interesting and informative and continue to use it for your on-going family research. We are not far away from our '100th' member- so we think this is a good achievement for such a young and specialist site.

The Genealogical database:

As a reminder- the existing database of Mort ancestors and related 'non Mort' ancestors has been created due to the kind contribution of our members GEDCOM's. This is the electronic format in which researchers can export, import and share their family trees. This has proven to be very valuable in helping novice researchers learn more about their genealogical past. However, the database can only grow with the continued contribution from members. If you have not already done so, we would be very grateful if you could share what you have learned about your Mort family history with other site users. Please contact us if you would like to contribute but are not sure how to share or even acquire your GEDCOM. You are also able to set up your own family tree on the site and we would be more than happy to help you do this. Once you are a member with a family tree on the site- you can discover exactly how you are related to everyone else - fun but frustrating. Read the forum for more details under 'general discussion' - and on that subject....

The Forum:

Discussion forums are what keep a site alive, but unfortunately members are only encouraged to add their own discussions to the forum if other members take the time to read them and contribute. Please do check out the discussion area and why not start your own topic? Its easy to do and it keeps the site interesting. If you are not sure how to do this, just contact us and we can guide you through the process.

The Mort life stories and other bits of information:

We are always on the look out for new stories about past Morts and their families, interesting advice on how someone found something of interest, the latest great free ancestry website or a list of the graves in the Vicar of Dibleys Parish churchyard. Anything that may possibly interest other members would be considered a candidate for the site. So - please get your imagination going or check what interesting spreadsheets you have on your PC and send them in. Give your family story immortality on the website- why not?
